Two members of the US human rights group, the Global Exchange, and a peace group, CODEPINK, will keep 24-hour vigil on renowned politician Aitzaz Ahsan’s house till they are not allowed to see him (Aitzaz).

The US human rights activists, Ms Medea Benjamin and Mr Tighe Barry told Daily Times on Saturday that they had come to Pakistan to monitor the political situation after the imposition of the emergency rule. “We want to see Aitzaz Ahsan put under house arrest,” they said, “When we tried to visit Mr Ahsan’s home on Saturday, we were not allowed to go in.” Tighe Barry said it was shocking for them that Mr Ahsan’s house had been designated a “sub jail”.

He said the chaos in Pakistan was beyond their expectations. He said it was horrible to see how Aitzaz Ahsan was treated. Ms Medea said, “We have come a long way to meet Mr Aitzaz, who will be remembered as a great hero in the history of Pakistan. We will sit and sleep patiently in front of his door, asking the security personnel to allow us in.”- [via TheNews]

All praise for Ms Medea Benjamin and Mr Tighe Barry and hope that they will succeed in meeting Aitzaz Ahsan. Otherwise this general Musharraf led regime is ready to do anything against a person who stands in their way of illegal acts.

What a pity? Don’t we have even a single civilian in Pakistan worthy of being the head of a Civilian Dept.? Everywhere Retd. Generals…..Everywhere…

Pakistan’s name should be changed to “Generalstan”. Army does not have any contribution in the independence of Pakistan. It was the civil society and lawyers under the guidance of great Quaid who sacrificed their lives to get their “own” country, which is now owned rather captured solely by Army. We (civilians) pay the taxes to feed our army, which already is sucking more than 70% of Pakistan’s annual budget and resources. Still their lust of power remains unfulfilled!

Musharraf is so desperate and afraid of being called a civilian that he has refused to leave the Army house. I am surprised why new Army Chief “Kianai” is behaving like a “Zanani”? It seems that Kianai is only a dummy, the original power still rests with Mush backed by Bush.

Pakistan Army does not have the courage to fight against enemy, whenever they fought they lost. That’s the main reason they keep themselves busy in fighting against their own people and conquering their own mosques, judiciary and media. Shame shame (Nanga nanga shame shame….)

Musharraf’s deeds and army’s support for him has tarnished Pakistan Army’s name so badly which no more enjoys any respect at all, not only in the country but in the entire world.

Army is the mother of corruption and all social evils and injustices in Pakistan. Being a Pakistani I am really ashamed of their acts!!!

The only way Army can mend their lost dignity is to throw away Mush from the power, invalidate the PCO (Pervez’s Constitutional Order) and restore the Judiciary as of 2nd November 2007. Mr. Kiani! you have to act fast.. now or never…

Can some one show Mush that how people HATE him instead of his croonies who must be telling him that because of him people have forgotten Quaid e Azam and Iqbal. Mush’s open desire is to be called Quaid e Azam.

The illiterate dictator is thought of as a clown in the world so it doesn’t matter what he wants to call himself. He is seen as a failure becasue of his corrupt policies. Even in Venezuela, people love Hugo Chavez but they realised it is unhealthy to consolidate power in one office of President. The illiterate Mush may think he is judge, jury, president, Quaid, Naozobillah God, and great statesman but the truth is evident in any international media report. Everywhere he is called a joke leader, a despot, a criminal who put back development in Pakistan 50 years. He will be judged for the damage he has done to Pakistan by his pride, grred and corruption.
    Pakistan Zindabad.
