  • Musharraf says West must share blame for Pakistan’s political crisis
  • Refuses to say what action he would take if Osama captured on Pakistani soil

President Pervez Musharraf said on Friday that if after the January 8 elections, a situation develops that is “absolutely unacceptable to me, I have a choice of leaving”.

The exclusive interview broadcast on the ABC morning show, Good Morning America, took place in Islamabad. The president declared, when asked if he was in a power-sharing deal with former premier Benazir Bhutto, “I am not in any deal with anyone. We are in a stage where we have to have fair elections. We have to see after the elections how things develop. If the situation develops in a manner which is absolutely unacceptable to me, I have a choice of leaving.”

West share blame:He said the West must share blame for Pakistan’s current political crisis. “If there’s a failure, it’s not Pakistan’s failure,” recalling that after 10 years of being together in the Afghan “jihad”, the US had left Pakistan alone to deal with the aftermath.

Osama’s fate: On Pakistan’s search for Osama Bin Laden, Musharraf refused to say what he would do with the Al Qaeda leader in case he was captured. He would not say if Pakistan would hand over Bin Laden to the US. “I think the people who need to know, know it,” he said. “And I don’t think the media is the one who needs to know.” Musharraf blamed the US for its inconsistent support over the past 30 years, saying that the US turned a blind eye to terrorism until the 9/11 attacks. “We handled the situation alone for 12 years,” he said.

He said, “Come hell or high water, elections would be held on January 8.” Musharraf insisted his political moves had been in reaction to the opposition’s tactics, AFP reported.

“The opposition, they have all along these five years tried to destabilise me and the government. You have to understand, we don’t want agitation here… Agitation means breaking down everything, burning things. That cannot be allowed. So, therefore, if anyone is trying to do that, we will stop it. That is the way it is in Pakistan,” he told the interviewer- [via DailyTimes]

I think, Musharraf is the right person for Pakistan right now. We have seen lot of economical growth during his tenure. The only thing which couldnot be handled by his government is terrorim. I think, Terrorism is a world wide issue and Pakistan needs more support to handle it.

I think, if Pakistani people reject Musharraf, they all will regret later.

    Thanks

I think mush is a morally corrupt and illegal president. to protect his own position he has pushed the nation on the verge of collapse. all his actions are meant to legitimize his rule .he is a retarded bastard.

  4. SBE Says:

If someone think that dictator Musharraf is right for job of loring over Pakistan like personal posession, then they must be family, corrupt looter or suffering from delusion. If you read any international media report, the world thinks that Pakistan is failed state becasue of Mush and his bad policies. The country is on verge of collapse. Billions of US aid have nothing to do with economic policies but just war on terror. Mush won lottery when US decided to fight Taleban in Afghanistan. Sadly people of Pak didn’t get anything. Only development despite billions is same stuff started by past governments like Motorway, Airport Gwader- none of this is by Mush. Where is billions of aid. He is thought of as a clown in whole world. I wish Pakistanis who only read brainwashed reports in Pak would try to read intl media to understand how bad world thinks of Pakistan and Mush. This is the legacy of Mush- to have world think of us as failed state. Anyone who want Mush to stay must really hate Pakistan and want its complete destruction. Shame on you! PAKISTAN WILL RECOVER FROM CRMINAL AND DEVELOP!

  5. Rubeena Amer Says:

I am waiting for the day Mush leaves….what has he given to the nation? Lawlessness, Faujis every where, killing of your own muslim brothers in Waziristan, Sawat, and Lal Masjid, WHEAT and Sugar, and now the oil crisis is in pipe line. He had 8 years with him all he will leave behind as his legacy is corrupt politicians headed by Coris of Gujrat, BB, NS, and head liar Fazal ur rehman. Can’t see the trickle down economy which the Q league talked so much about. Never ever thought of Roti for 5 rupees and Nan for 10. Will be looking forward to the time when Army will be answerable too. Civil society played the role in making Pakistan but army GENERALS are playing the game which God forbade will end in loosing Pakistan.

Came with the promise to give Pakistan a stable platform so that democracy may flourish. He pretended to be a committed person stating again and again he will leave as soon as Govt is stable. Along these crucial one many others promises are broken.

He added more corrupt people in his cabinet and made biggest ever “Putli Ghar”.

If he were not there in first place Pakistan could make excuses. As an example like Turkey did to not join America on war on terror by saying that “Parliament is not being agreed” or could pull his support after some time by making many other excuses. For a civilian Govt it would not be as easy to attack on North region and kill their own people.

He raised Kashmir issue but failed
Failed to solve Kala bagh dam issue
Failed to introduce any reform in political issues.
Failed to control inflation and poverty

    Made life miserable.
Worst Handling of lal masjid and North region issues.
Increased hatred for the Army in view of common people.

  10. Mahmood Says:

Musharraf is not only incomeptent but he is dangerous becasue he like to parade around the world telling the West how indispensible he is or otherwise Pakistan will be home to terrorists or our bombs will fall into terrorist hands. The clown has no shame and will defame the nation in any way to keep power. No wonder folks in the army also see him as a traitor and embarrassment.
He needs to be charged with treason to send a clear message to the next illiterate who wants to put back our development as a society based on insitutions and rule of law.
