Thousands of students, lawyers and supporters of Benazir Bhutto and ARD(Alliance of Restoration of Democracy) protested in Islamabad today against the Emergency imposed by Musharraf. “I request my brothers and sisters to reach Rawalpindi at all costs,” Bhutto told a news conference. “I think we should all come down as strongly as we can for the restoration of democracy. And if General Musharraf wants to find a way out, well the ball is in his court,” she said. “It is dangerous to stand up to a military dictatorship, but more dangerous not to,” Bhutto said “One man is holding the entire nation hostage for his personal interests” Nawaz Sharif said. “Even the ruling junta today does not know how to go get out of this situation they have got into” he said.Here are all the pictures I could collect, please share your views in the end… A man dares the Police to shoot him, Protest by Lawyers and Students, Evening Protest by Benazir’s supporters, Please share your opinions and views below… [Pictures via Reuters, AP, AFP]

salam my brothers and sisters of pakistan:Its our duty as a proud and vibrant nation to unit and stand firm against this barbarism,disctatorship and traitor of the people of pakistan,who sold the people of pakistan for his and us interstests.i think the young generation and students being the most dynamic should come out on streets and make the difference.

There is only one law in Pakistan now and it is “Might is right and everything is fair if you are in Power”. Musharraf (Busharraf actually) has done and will do everything to perpetuate his power. He has nothing to do with rights of the people, democracy, liberty etc etc. He is following the US agenda to kill his own people and he will get US support as long as he obeys their commands. The day he refuses, US will start making noise that it needs democracy in Pakistan and it needs human rights to be restored and bla bla bla. In fact US has nothing to do with the benefit of the people in any part of the world. They just follow their own needs and policies.
The biggest problem of Pakistan is that these dictators always find enough opportunist people in the political and judicial circles to rubber stamp their rule. Benazir has done an irreparable damage by supporting Musharraf’s re election. Musharraf effectively denied any chance to the opposition and boasts of winning the so called election by majority. Now he has installed his own judges in the Supreme Court who will legalize his re-election and then he will celebrate that the Supreme Court has decided in his favour. I don’t understand how these so called leaders can lie bluntly in front of the entire world. I do not have a name for these activities. Is it jugglary? Is it stubbornness? Is this the law? Or is it when you are the president, no law applies to you and you can play with the parliament, the judiciary and the government functionaries as your toys?

Hope you all are doing good,someone sent me a link to this site and i was just watching the pictures but i find out that these pictures do not show the actual situation out there on the streets. Its actually even worse. I’ve seen even worse with people bleeding and being beaten up crazy. Hope you could find the real stuff and post them also.

First of all i would like to say thanks for your effort to show the brutality of state terrorism in Pakistan by musharif. I would like to appeal to the students to join hands with lawyers and make this agitation so strong that it forced musharif to bow down in front of the nation. Now its the time that there should be one voice on the streets of Pakistan “Go Musharif Go”.

The uneducated Mush don’t want to go- he is drunk on power and aid money. He is now quoting Abraham Lincoln which is why world is making even more fun of him and his ridiculous comments. He is most reviled leader in Pakistan who tells world that Pakistanis are uncivilised and unable to govern selves. If so what makes uneducated General like him better qualified? Because he and military has stolen than all polticians. All of Pakistan must unite to throw out corrupt dictator and see him charged to put in jail.

I don’t know whats going to happen???? Every where uncertainity, darkness and no end to these crisis. All the mega projects stopped, all the high rise projects in Karachi, the advance transport system project in Lahore all halted and now I believe finished. So what to expect in this country.

There is no shortage of differences between Islamic Fundamentalist organizations. They belong to different beliefs, they hail from different populations and societies, and they have different aims and different names. However, they find common ground in their strategy of muqawama, the Arabic term for “resistance.”
The notion of Islamic resistance draws from the perception that Islam and its values are under severe attack. It therefore aspires to be a world wide religious struggle for ensuring the supremacy of Allah and his believers.
These organizations therefore go for territorial control on their respective areas of influence.
In the context of Pakistan we see an infusion of Al-Qaeda and Taliban with a major similarity of being Sunni. Al-Qaeda is anti Saudi establishment and Taliban is against the Pakistan Government. However Pakistan initially being a Taliban territory, Al-Qaeda has been hosted by them with a seemingly common objective of defeating Pakistani Security Forces.
In Pakistan we were having these problems with Taliban/ Al-Qaeda in Baluchistan area for a long time. We all know its background, its history and who controls what in that area geographically.
It is a very popular question these days being asked by every Pakistani as to why President Musharraf declared Emergency in the country and why now.
We were told that the crisis was provoked by the growing strength of the extremists. It was their new offensive in Swat valley which was especially troubling to the Government of Pakistan because it marks the first time the Governments authority has been challenged in the North West Frontier Province out side the ungovernable tribal areas.
What these Fundamentalists forces want is a territory from where they can operate at the global level (Already most of the bombers in Europe are trained in Waziristan).
The Militia of Fazllulah, the warlord of Swat, has defeated the paramilitary forces sent in to “bring peace to the people of the valley” effectively passing on the control of the area to the Taliban-Al-Qaeda.
In the Swat region one added complication is the Durand Line, the International border between Pakistan and Afghanistan which is from time to time being challenged by the Afghan Government.
Taliban / Al-Qaeda now have a credible sanctuary among Fellow-Pushtoon tribesman which can be found on both sides of the border. The commonality and the ethnic dimensions of the Pushtoon area increase their resistance to International Forces operating in Afghanistan as well as to the Pakistani Security Forces.
Taken together, these trends point to Pakistan’s dangerous loss of territorial control over its tribal frontiers to the West.
For the first time since Independence, Pakistan faces an existential threat to its security from its western borders rather than the eastern frontier with India.
If the Pakistani army fails to regain control over its western borderlands, the entire subcontinent will pay for a region-wide surge of religious extremism and terrorism.
Hence the declaration of the Emergency now.

Mr. Nusrat You have probably taken a very superficial view of the situation and this is the view that most Army Officers are taking to soothe their concience. Pl ocme to your senses and stop siding with the Army and side the people of Pakistan. The true story is quite different. the Army has always aided and abetted USA. Our general officers are their paid agents. they are kept in the Governemtn till they serve the purposes of the USA. The generals want to rule. The Army takes away 80% of the national budget and still wants the rest 25%. The Army officers arfe ensured houses, plots and job after retirement. The generals want to keep their officers appeased. Tgus major part of national resource is directed to the Army. The people can suffer as usual. For propagation of their policies the generals have never let the political process grow and mature in Pakistan. They always paint the political leaders as goofs, fools and jokers. They kept telling that for Kh. Naimudding, Suharwardy, Mujib and Bhutto. They had tyhe control of Pakistan for the last 60 years and if they wanted to do any good for the country they would have done that. they have not delivered at all. Infact the mess of taliban that we are in is because of them. Infact they are still supporting them to keep a card in hand for USA can support them only if they have this card. Remove the generals from the helm of affairs, restore the judiciary, talk to the people of troubled areas and things will be OK. But all that should be doden for the country and the nation not for bungalows, plots and unlimited perks. If any more time is given to the military it is going to destroy us completely.

Oh Well Pakistanis will remain Pakistani, where there is no parking sign they will Park there , you cant teach teach some sense into them and thats why each year they are manipulated by the Politicians and for the first time which as been the most effective the anti-Pakistani media, What can you do … they are eating the country themselves and the one Man who can stop it is Musharraf

The illiterate Musharraf has become a joke all over the world. He is an embarrasment to the nation and he continues to drag the nation’s reputation down along with him. Look at the headlines of all the newspapers in the world. He alone is responsible- he alone is destroying Pakistan- he alone has dome more to damage the reputation of our beloved nation than any leader in our history. He deserves to be charged with treason and put in jail for crimes agaisnt the nation. This will send a clear signal to the next illiterate General who thinks he can loot Pakistan at will and create self styled laws.
