“I will remember this day all my life, as two important events happened,” 13-year-old Sajid said. Sajid was one of the twenty children who attended the ‘BachooN kee duniya’ (World of Children) programme when the fire broke out. “I attended my favourite programme where they recorded my voice and I saw a fire for the first time.” Sajid lives in a nearby building and had trundled back to the scene with a friend at 3:00 p.m. to show off what had happened. “First I felt thrilled,” Sajid said recounting how they were evacuated. “I thought now we will all be rescued like in the movies. But then I grew afraid because I thought we might be stranded and nobody would come.”
