People feed pigeons at Mian Mir’s shrine. Emperor Jahangir once visited the sufi and was stopped at the doorstep by his devotees. ‘Ba dar-e-dervish darban na bayad,’ Jahangir said to the saint (There shouldn’t be a sentry at a dervish’s doorstep). Mian Mir replied: ‘Bayad ke sag-e-dunya na ayad’ (He’s needed to keep the worldly dogs away).
