Like many expatriate Pakistanis I am pleased to see that Pakistan is developing an indigenous armaments industry including fighter aircraft. Despite some of the negative comments here any reference to current air magazines shows that China’s current fighters rate favorably to most Western aircraft. The reality is that Pakistan should invest in more reasonable weapons purchases from China and develop its own indigenous industry because ultimately the nation’s strenght will come from a stronger economy. Unfortunately some of military men are fixated with buying expensive American F-16s and Western hardware which is expensive to maintain. When times are tough Pakistan may not be able to obtain spares and parts from them as we have seen in the past. In some ways I wonder whether we would be better off with an arms emgargo in place because it forces Pakistan to become self sufficient. As the proverb goes in Persian ” necessity is the mother of Invention”

the indians and the rest of the world can say all they want but this a a very good 3rg generation/early 4th generation fighter plane, and for a country building a fighter plane for the first time in its history you have to admit its preety impressive, and already some countries are intrested in purchasing this plane

Thre’s a great deal of information on the JF 17 and also Kamra in both the July and June issues of Air Forces Monthly published from the UK. In fact the JF 17 is the feature article in the magazine and the write up is very positive. It shows what Pakistanis are capable of when we work within a system and apply ourselves.
