Why I Hate “Windows Vista”

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or E-mail Newsletter. Thanks for visiting! Well this topic is going to be a little tough. As far as i am concerned, i have tested all the beta versions of windows vista. Microsoft announced that this Windows Vista will be very stable, they lied. Let me explain you how? I tested all versions of windows vista and all had problems. Some had startup problems, while other crashed. Dammit ! I love the name “Vista” but the software completely Sucks. So why will i buy, why will the people pay more than $100 for this piece of crap. Windows XP needs a minimum of 256mb of ram to run smoothly. It is a matter of fact that Windows XP runs slow and crashes (even after service pack 2) on a PC with 1GB (256 x 4) of ram. Windows Vista needs 1GB of ram to run smoothly. It means that if i buy a PC with 4GB (1 x 4) ram then it will certainly crash, as compared with Windows XP. Here are the details:- Windows, Minimum Ram, Crashes on, Windows XP 256 MB My computer with 1GB ram Windows Vista 1GB My computer with 4GB ram Windows Vista will certainly crash even after they release Service Packs. Microsoft is a BUG! I wish i SUE Microsoft one day because my harddisk got formatted due to Damn Windows Vista. Crashes and bugs does not mean the it crashes while opening the Browser or a File, What i mean by Crash is that when you open the software and go deeper inside, like programmers do, then the computer gets halted. Then there is only one choice left “Press RESTART” on your CPU.

Ever thought that its YOU and not your computer thats causing windows to crash. My computer only has 512Mb of RAM and it runs XP Perfectly and it also runs vista quite good.
November 6th, 2006 at 1:35 pm
No you are probably wrong my friend….. you have used simple features of Windows Vista…. if you go deeper in the software…it gets hanged and is non responsive…i dont know why ?

Ah, same thing happened when Windows XP came out, everyone I knew was crashing, ceasing, choking and spitting, I guess the thousands of beta testers, including the ones that work for MS obviously overlooked the troubles.
Hola!!

I never have troubles, I dunno…

Well fred i understand what you are saying…. maybe you use the computer for only movies, games or simple stuffs. You know my cousin’s credit card was stolen by someone, and he told me that he did not use the Credit Card once on the internet. He just typed the credit card no. and saaved it in MS WORD. Then someone hacked his computer and stole his no. So maybe one day you will get in trouble. One day will surely come, so i have only one word left for saying……..”BEWARE”

Get a mac, duh!

I hate Windows Vista. It is a piece of shit. Half the time, the task manager won’t even work and i can’t end any processes that have fucked up. Also, they wouldn’t have fucked up in the first place if Vista was actually compatible with anything.
March 20th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
YOu are all lame. Get Linux. Vista blows. So does XP. It’s all Microsoft stuff, so just screw it and get Linux.
March 22nd, 2007 at 11:01 am
My XP runs fine on 512MB ram too. I think it’s b.s. that you have to change a registry setting on vista to use Aero Glass on 512 MB RAM!
Maybe it’s your power supply or some really unreliable ram.
Honestly though ram is not everything.

Hmmm… let’s see a list of programs that aren’t vista compatible, or completely don’t work at all? (Mozilla Firefox, DivX, any media players other than Windows Media Player… In my opinion Microsoft has yet again to screw the public over with a crappy program unfinished and unrefined. Half of the programs I Install, I can’t delete because I don’t have “administrator”, another thing, setting up a new network is a joke, they want an ISP and ISP password, which I never even received from my cable company (Charter). How can I set it up another way I can’t… Windows Vista also has security flaws, I’m so damn tired of clicking verify every time I open or close a program, my advice keep using XP for about another two years until they patch this half-ass made OS.
March 27th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
My advice : buy a Macintosh, it runs smoothly, no viruses, no bugs, no crashes. But you’ll need 1GB Ram for multitasking or, like me, a diaporama with 200′000 photos. Don’t dream !
OK I also have an IMAC (1999) with OSX Panther, mail, browser, Office etc. with 192 MB Ram, wich still runs perfectly well.
PS : Vista is a pale copy of APPLE Tiger (OSX). As usual since DOS 3.1. Prefer the original. You can even use Vista with a Macintosh if you really need it.
From France.

To hell with the macs! Go download a linux install cd/dvd. It’s basicly the same core OS as macs and it costs nothing. Just use your old pc. No need to buy expen$ive mac hardware. XP and Vista can both kiss my round shiny ass.

i agree i strongly dislike windows vista, it is a pile of shite. you wud think that probally the biggest computing company in the bussines i.e microsoft wud be able to get soem decient testers that isnt the reason i dislike vista though, i dislike it because of all the little checks it keeps on you, like sending all error repots to microsoft (in xp it gives you a choice) and it checks all your software to make sure its real even if it isnt a microsoft piece of software, you also need a super computer to use well and if you have an oldish computer thy ompant arent going to make the new drivers you will need to use the hardware so it means upgrading. all in all either stay with xp which is an excelent os or buy a mac or go linux.

Fine print analysis of the EULA.
Vista’s legal fine print includes extensive provisions granting Microsoft the right to regularly check the legitimacy of the software and holds the prospect of deleting certain programs without the user’s knowledge. During the installation process, users “activate” Vista by associating it with a particular computer or device and transmitting certain hardware information directly to Microsoft.
thought i would get some evidence to back up what i said sooo there it is.
soooo many reason not to waste your money on windows shiter (vista)
and we can all only hope that it just blows over and windows vista becomes just another windows ME and we all forget about it.

Windows Vista(Pissta) destroyed my XP drive. I had a 3 drive system. 2 drives were XP clones. I installed a 4th, brand new, drive, that I was going to put Vista on. The idea is that I could avoid the bootloader and just select the drive that I want in BIOS.
My main XP drive was selected, in bios, as the primary drive to boot when the computer comes on.
I install Pissta. When the computer reboots I select the Pissta drive as the primary drive. Pissta comes up. I play with it a while. I notice that it has a problem reading some directories when I open them. It would hang for a long time, then when the directory listing was returned I would get 2 files at the end with “X” icons next to them.
I go to shut down Pissta and the computer hangs for a very long time before it finally shuts down. I turn the computer back on and I get a bootloader error saying that the partition could not be found.
I finally give up and switch my primary drive back to the XP drive and reboot only to find that Windows Pissta has also installed a bootloader on my XP in addition to the one that it put onto the drive which I selected for the Pissta Install.
Paranoid that the Pissta bootloader would destroy my XP drive as well I put in the XP install disk, went to a repair console and typed FIXBOOT as per the instuctions I found on a Microsoft forum. Well FIXBOOT ran and said that everything worked and that I should reboot.
I reboot. Now NTLDR is missing. Pissta destroyed my drive. Gates owes me for lost work as far as I’m concerned. This was malicous destruction of my intellectual property. I don’t care what his license agreement says. The law also says that you can’t agree to an illegal contract. I’m going to sue Microsoft for this. This was destruction on par with a computer virus. Gates will pay!!!!!!

Vista Sucks, its that simple and u should not wast the money on it. Personally i have taken all my stocks to mac. do the same.
April 17th, 2007 at 9:14 am
What a piece of shit. I try to move a directory and it is says I need Administrator privileges to do so. I AM the fucking administrator.
We should have a Burn Vista fire right beside Burning Man.
April 17th, 2007 at 11:29 am
lol. Yeah it sucks but man try signing in as an administrator and then try moving the directory. If ir does not solve, then ask Bill Gates directly. lol

beware to all of those in computer land “windows vista” is a piece of shit!!!! i just purchased a hp laptop from best buy not knowing that it has pre instld windows vista already in it. the nightmare begins……. now keep in mind that i have an old hp laptop with windows xp but i wanted one with a bigger screen. i take my shiny laptop home that iam so proud of, install my disc for lynksys router no connection found??? this doesnt make any sense, my old laptop worked right out of the box right after i installed lynksys but my new computer doesnt. i contacted a rep from lynksys, finally after for4solid days of taking me literally into the black hole of reconfiguration it worked. the problem was the lynksys router was so new it needed an updated version to install windows vista, that should of have been my first fucking clue to get rid of this p o s!!!
i previously installed yahoo music and downloaded 235 songs, i just made an attempt to burn these onto cd’s guess what “fatal error 000000360. 000407 a log is being created? what the fuck! i just spent .79 for each song and i cant burn a damn song. i went and bought a 900.00 12 meg digital camera, took it home instld the software after 20 min yeah u guessed it right unable to download, this particular camera which hosted this software wasnt fucking windows vista compatible. if you purchase a camera and downloading pictures on ur computer make sure you read the box the camera is packaged in. hats off to best buy, they have nothing to do with this crazy ass software its already pre installed on all new computers. i spoke with someone in corporate. they uninstalled windows vista and installed windows xp and waived the fees i only had to purchse the windows xp software. i promise y o u this is very rare, best buy does not do this all of the time. i dont want anyone to go thru this ordeal that i have been thru. stay away from “windows vista” they havent worked all of the quirks out and i dont think they ever will!!!!
April 29th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
all i have to say vista is one big piece of shite!
May 2nd, 2007 at 5:18 am
Vista does suck; but man your logic stinks… I think most of the problems - if not the Vista ones then foshizzley the XP ones.
XP does not crash just because it has 1GB or less of RAM… or are you “Dude, let’s open 100 programs, edit 10,000 by 10,000 pixel images, and then say ‘Windows XP sucks, it’s full of bugs - it crashes on even 1GB of RAM.’”
May 10th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Yes Vista Blows! I had to talk to the tech reps for 2 hrs to get my copy of Norton Antivirus to run and also I’m getting little icons in my notify menu that have no meaning I talked to the tech reps from Toshiba and they couldn’t tell me what to do about them! My advice is stick with windows XP!
May 13th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
windows vista is so darn crap that it wont eve allow ot own programs to work on including windows live meessanger on it. It blocks it all the time from using the internet and executes it from usings the systems and wont allow you to format it so it can work.
May 17th, 2007 at 1:21 am
Man Vista really sux ,sux & Sux .I think there cannot be a worse operating system than Vista. Vista is just a slow piece of shit.Bill gates drink a glass of water & die slow.
May 18th, 2007 at 8:48 am
Fuck MS Vista !!!! I built a new computer for myself a couple months before Vista was released, with all the hype about Vista, I built a computer compatible for it. Okay, not a bad thing regardless. I started off with XP Home upgradeable to Vista. Anyways, a month ago, a friend bought a new laptop with Vista Premium Media Center Edition. So I installed her OS disc on my desktop. Biggest mistake I could have ever made !!!!! Vista SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!! Tells me I don’t have permission too access files in my own computer. What the fuck type of shit is that ??? I ended up hoseing my hard drive and reinstalling the XP disc I bought when I built this computer.I think I will go to XP Professional 64. I’m fully capable of running a 64 bit operating system. Much more stable, faster, better all around performance then a 32 bit system. With Vista on the market, there is plenty of support for the 64 bit operating systems, and I will be able too run the Media Center I thought was so cool without the Vista inflictions.

I think you should all avoid Vista. It’s only purpose is to cater towards the multimedia companies concerns about their stinking copyright protection.
At every level, Vista is about putting the consumer over the barrell. With the ability to turn off your nifty hardware if it thinks you are using pirated media, to poorly implemented permissions schemes that serve to annoy rather than to protect, an ambiguous EULA that basically tells you that you are only leasing the software, and no way for business to get a copy of Vista without a DRm shceme that eats roughly 20% cpu time to tell you what you can and cant do with your computer. Let’s not even start with the questionable ethics displayed by Vista’s ability to spy on you by reporting your usage habits to Big Bro….er….Microsoft.
Ok, all hysterics aside, I used Vista, and wanted to vomit. Why should an operating system do anything other than operate your system? Ask Microsoft, as they are bending over for the Media Providers. As for me? If I have to use Microsoft products, it will be Xp, as I have finally grown to think of it as somewhat stable , when properly tuned.
I pity companies that depend upon Microsoft software. I pity anybody who went out and upgraded their machine , and bought a copy of Vista.
As a consultant, my advice to you all is to use linux on your old hardware, or buy a Mac if you can afford it.
Personally, I will continue to use Linux in my household.

I have ordered three Ubuntu Cds from their website http://www.ubuntu.com , Ubuntu is great for almost everything and its fast too.

I too hate windows vista with all my heart!!
Whatever you’r trying to do, it feels like working with a straightjacket.. and the new menus, buttons scattered all over..nerve wracking.
Vista consumes my computer.. Don’t like it a bit..
Don’t you tell me what I can’t do stupid Microsoft!!
Linux next..
June 4th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Man you suck, Windows XP is the bomb! You probably are a noob that got yourself ahold of some viruses or spyware.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:02 am
Microsoft pisses me off. I just updated from xp to vista YESTERDAY, and i’m already pissed off. And yes, its exactly like a straightjacket. I can’t do anything. I have 2 gig of ram and a 2 ghz processor. It runs fine, slightly laggy a little. But seriously, with Vista you can’t do shit, and its so damn glitchy i don’t even know why Bill Gates himself would use it. I’m moving back to XP.
June 10th, 2007 at 4:23 am
Have to agree with most posts made here. I have used my fare share of operating systems, older versions of windows and various flavors of linux and vista is without doubt the worst OS i have ever installed.
Let’s start with the simple fact that linux actually has more hardware support (not brand new hardware). The lack of software compatibility for vista is appalling. I’m not terribly keen on buying new versions of many programs which were compatible with XP and don’t work with vista. The best thing is when it tells you, that you cannot install something, because it is only compatible with 98, 2000 or XP or better!
Did vista programmers actually make an effort to make their algorithms run slow, so as to make people upgrade their hardware? MC under slackware running on a P3 machine, as compared to a new pc is many times faster (probably an understatement) at simple search and replace text operations than notepad/wordpad or word!
Without doubt the function best implemented to the annoyance of the user is the anti-piracy crap. Had to reinstall vista twice, because it’s just such a piece of shit and had to call microsoft the second time since it wouldn’t allow me to activate. When will someone realize that this just pisses off users with original software and does little to fight piracy.
Changing the structure of menus and settings is definitely a great step … backwards. If you need to learn it from scratch, why not take the time to figure out linux or get used to mac os. Quite frankly I think you should. Just think of the time you’ll save without reading the accept or deny messages all day long (yes, I know it can be disabled!)

I bought my daughter an ipod and myself a new computer with vista pre-installed and i still cant use the ipod because vista will not allow the itunes softwear to run.I tried contacting ms but it got me nowhere. So for that i hate windows vista ms and the whole damn thing!!!!death to ms!!!
July 26th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Yeah I hate vista too! I hate it so much, ive set up a website. It’s http://www.ihatevista.co.uk/
Check out the forum!

I read through these complaints and notice a few repetitive things.
…. ahhh nevermind… I’d have better luck talking to a wall. Go sue MS because you felt forced to buy their stuff and mismatch it with wrong hardware. I have many XP machines that never crash, and the same with Vista. Follow some simple rules and youre fine.
If you cant handle that then go buy a MAC where all your decisiona are made for you and youll be just as fine.
